Whitby Brewery Tap – The Headland – across from the Abbey – most of tap housed in a former Barn large outdoor seating area — basic but worth the climb up the cliff. Recently started offering Pizzas to.
York
Ye Olde Shambles Tavern – down York’s very own Diagon Alley get passed the wand shops and look out for the pork pie shop next door – we would suggest using the entrance of Yorks great market and theres is a great seating area overlooking the butchers and fish stalls
York Part 2. – heading north of the river.
Minster Inn Mary Gate, through the Museum Gardens – Marstons link to owners Ainsty Inns – so range of changing beers – a number of interesting rooms – locals tend to congregate in the front right bar
Exhibition – Bootham ,large hotel style pub
Lamb and Lion, under Bootham Gate – lots of rooms and some great views from the rear beer garden, normally a range of Yorkshire focussed beer.
Eagle & Child – High Petergate – down from. Lamb and Lion and still insight of the Minster and Bootham Bar - formerly a longstanding restaurant Plunkets loved by Theatre luvvies and Rock stars was taken over by Leeds Brewery in 2015 - some. Great views from the upstairs windows.
York Arms – Sams pub directly opposite the Minsters main door -great little snug through the sliding door immediately on the right as you enter – CURRENTLY CLOSED
Guy Fawkes - High Petergate what pub gives an apt description - Hugely atmospheric inn with up-market chic accommodation in the shadow of York Minster. Timber floors and plentiful oak furniture are lit by candles and gas lamps to complete the old world experience with a flourish.
Punch Ball – Stone gate just passed the very large teddy bear – said to be one of the oldest pus in York — pretty much in the centre of town – lots of wooden beams – Nicholsons/M&B Pub so you might be able to use some vouchers/app
House of Trembling Madness – now spread over 2 sites – the original in Stone gate is very small and bijou – bottle shop on the ground floor – larger version now opened down the road in Lendal.
Pivni – Patrick Pool – founding bar of the Pivovar Group, drink in or outside of this 12th Century timber building,
Valhalla – Patrick Pool just down from Pivni Viking themed bar in a former hairdressers – Bruce’s choice – you can even drink out of cow horns though there is a hefty security charge
Kings Arms – Kings Staithe down by the river with the ubiquitous flood lines on the wall – Sams Smiths but no cask due to flood risk – gets very busy outside in the summer.
