Pub list
A smorgasbord of pubs mentioned in this episode as we did a bit of a catch up – so no geographical/area links but they are here anyway
Mellards Bar – Newcastle Under Lyme – one of Mike’s local haunts newish bar – fantastic refurb of a former hardware shop that had stood derelict for a while – ever changing range of beers and ciders – always one cask – great outdoor area as well
Boltmakers, Keighley – Mike Moon Under Water Choice – the unofficial brewery tap for nearby Timothy Taylors – their full range usually on offer – a pint of Golden Best would be our choice
Duke of York – Whitby – one of our regular haunts when by the seaside – fantastic position overlooking the harbour and the the bottom of the Abbey steps – Osset Beers feature – but Whitby also on – good food and often very cheap lobsters
Brass Castle Tap – Malton – former handbag shoo and Temperance Hotel – not a huge space though there is now an outside area at the rear – not Nick’s favourite but I can normally drag him in there as well as the Brass range normally a couple of other local breweries also so feature – Bad Kitty is usually on good form.
The Whitehorse (Nellies) Beverley – Bruce’s Moon under water choice – legendary Sam Smiths House – still gas lit and a must visit once place – look for the big church to the North of the Market place and turn right
The Palace Bar – Dublin – on fleet street just on the way into Temple bar – more of a locals pub than the Oirish madness a bit further down the road – Nicks comfort zone of dark wood, brass and lots of mirrors and reputedly one of the best pints of Guinness in town.
